Coming from Germany the Tappers settled in Lake County, Indiana. The family emigrated from Ostfriesland as Klöfkorns, adopting the surname Tapper when Gretje Folkerts Müller Klöfkorn married Edzard Heinrich Tapper on 4 Jan 1875 in Chicago, Cook, Illinois.
